“Trimix” or “Bimix” are generic names for differing combinations of medications(most typically Phentolamine, Papaverine, and Prostaglandin or PGE-1) that work by vasodilating blood vessels in the penis thereby creating an erection.​ Using a very small needle and syringe, these medications are directly injected into the corpus cavernosum of the penis to produce the desired erection. These medications have been shown to be very effective in helping those who suffer from ed achieve high-quality erections within minutes.

  • “TRIMIX” is a combination of Phentalomine, Papaverine, & Alprostadil.

Instructions for Safe Trimix usage:

  • Wait at least 24 hours between doses and other ED medications
  • Max use: 1x per 24 hrs and 3x per 7 days
  • Keep medication refrigerated

Possible Trimix Side-Effects:

  • Pain at the injection site
  • Local burning/stinging
  • Priapism ​(erection lasting > 4 hours) – can cause tissue damage
  • Fibrosis of penile tissue (usually reversible)
  • Lightheadedness Seek Medical Attention if you experience
  • Swelling of the tongue, hives, tingling/itching in mouth/throat

Antidoting Instructions

(for erections lasting longer than 2-3 hours):
  • Encourage blood flow out of the penis
  • Use alternating hot and cold compresses to the base of the penis – 3 minutes warm/ 30 seconds cold, end on cold
  • Take 4-6 oral Sudafed or 25-50mg of Benadryl
  • Lay in a warm bath
  • Try to lay down and rest, increased activity leads to a firmer erection
  • An erection lasting longer than 6 hours may require referral to the emergency department

Who Should Not Use Trimix/Bimix?:

  • Patients with a sensitivity to any of the medications
  • Patients not healthy enough for sex
  • Patients with unstable cardiovascular disease – Angina, History of heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Patients sensitive to PSEUDOEPHEDRINE or similar medications
  •  Patients with a penile implant
  •  Patients with some diseases such as Sickle Cell Anemia, Multiple Myeloma, Leukemia
  • Patients using anticoagulants or MAO inhibitors (a type of antidepressant)
  •  Some patients with manual dexterity or vision problem
  • Ask your doctor to find out if it’s safe for you to take this medication Antidoting for Priapism

You need to seek emergency medical attention if you experience:

  • Swelling of the tongue, hives, tingling/itching in mouth/throat
  • An Erection lasting longer than 4 hours
  • Sudden loss of vision or hearing
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
