Lesson 2 of 3
What doesn't change after a vasectomy
A vasectomy doesn't affect testosterone, erections, sex drive or sensation. You still ejaculate normally; the semen just doesn't contain sperm.
Lesson 3 of 3
After your procedure
You aren't sterile right away. It takes time for remaining sperm to clear, so you'll need a follow-up semen test to confirm before relying on it for birth control.
Use backup protectionKeep using another form of birth control until your follow-up test confirms no sperm.
